When construction began in September 2004, Fordham Place was the first new mixed-use development in the Bronx in over 15 years. The redevelopment project encompassed refurbishing the old six-story “Sears Building” and expanding the retail space with the addition of a new office tower, and new middle school, the Jonas Bronck Academy. Renovation of the existing building included the addition of “showcase windows” on every floor and multiple street level entrances to accommodate a variety of retail and office tenants. Located at Fordham Road and Webster Avenue, just steps from the Metro North Train Station and MTA Bus Terminal, Fordham Place is situated on the 3rd largest retail corridor in New York City and holds a high profile presence in the Bronx.
